Volunteer Travel Partners Needed to Join the Maori Delegation

Travel with the Tap Root Cultural Exchange Program

ACECA/ATAYAL is excited to offer an amazing volunteer opportunity to some people who are interested in gaining hands-on experience with an international event. Your transportation, meals and accommodations may be paid for, if you are selected. You will be able to interact with the delegation of Maori film students who are visiting from Auckland, New Zealand to tour Taiwan for 2 weeks between December 3-17, 2013. They will be filming their connection to the indigenous people of Taiwan. They will participate in a forum and workshop to develop future cooperation on projects with indigenous filmmakers in Taiwan.

Learn, share your culture and make lifelong friends.

We need the following travel volunteers for each of the positions:

  • Interpreter 1 - We will need an Chinese/English interpreter to help us translate the guest speaker presentations and workshops for the Maori students. There may be other needs for interpreting as well, during the Maori students travels. It will be helpful if you are legally able to drive a large van in Taiwan.
  • Interpreter 2 - We will need an Chinese/English interpreter to help us translate the guest speaker presentations and workshops for the Maori students. There may be other needs for interpreting as well, during the Maori students travels. It will be helpful if you are legally able to drive a large van in Taiwan.
  • Personal Assistant - We need someone who is fluent in Chinese and English language. This person will gather receipts, make reservations and arrangements, and phone calls to make sure everything goes smoothly. This person will also help me organize the guest speakers, workshops and film festivals. The two interpreters may also assist the Personal Assistant. It will be helpful if you are legally able to drive a large van in Taiwan.
  • Photographer/Videographer - We need someone who is skilled at taking photos and video. This person will document the experience of the exchange program, and work with our film team and the film team from New Zealand to gather footage. At the end of the exchange program, this person will assist in producing a DVD to show the results of the program. It will be helpful if you are legally able to drive a large van in Taiwan.

We may have two vans to transport our travel group, and we may need a driver to help us drive to our required locations.

  1. Tony, I wish you every success with the program. Regarding the volunteers, I think you should make it clear whether transportation costs, meals and (where applicable) overnight accommodation is provided.
