ATAYAL and ACECA are proud to share the indigenous culture of Taiwan with a delegation from the Auckland University of Technology in Aotearoa (New Zealand). They are participants in the Tap Root Cultural Exchange Program, which runs from December 3-17, 2013. Through the program, they will explore the indigenous (Austronesian) culture of Taiwan and share the Maori culture with their Taiwanese hosts.

The Maori delegation will listen to guest speakers and participate in workshops with indigenous Taiwanese students. The objective of the workshops is to learn about the ANZTEC agreement between Taiwan and New Zealand, and discuss this funding opportunity for future cooperative film and television projects between Taiwan and New Zealand. They will also share ideas with their hosts for the development, funding and distribution of future cooperative projects.

Companies and personal donors have the opportunity to sponsor the program and the Maori during their visit to Taiwan. With their support, the program will support future media cooperation, leading to increased activities between the Maori and the indigenous people of Taiwan, including indigenous tourism and trade. The benefits to Taiwan and New Zealand are long-term.
